A decade of Cision PR Influencer Award nominations.
Cision Scandinavia is celebrating its 10th anniversary of the Cision PR Influencer Award.
And I had the pleasure of being nominated for the 10th time.
Here we go:
The Cision PR Influencer Award
I’ve had the honour and pleasure of being nominated by Cision Scandinavia in 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019 — and now also in 2020 for the Cision PR Influencer Award.
I would lie if I said I wasn’t slightly pleased with myself for being nominated for a decade.
As follows, I pride myself on being somewhat consistent, especially since this blog, Doctor Spin, has been the central hub for online sharing since the start of my career. Online influence has never been the goal but rather a side-effect of sharing my passion for public relations.
Since I won in 2016, I have kept my fingers crossed for John Mellqvist, a senior consultant and futurist at Techposition. There are many great communicators among the nominees, but I’m incredibly impressed by John’s work:
John has diligently fought with the stupid majority who believe that getting older is only about getting less young. Fighting ageism in the workplace is a worthwhile pursuit. 1Silfwer, J. In any case, I celebrate this decade of PR work, from New York to Stockholm, from agency to independent adviser — cheers!

Doctor Spin’s Formula for Personal Branding
Here’s my actionable formula for personal branding:
Stupid Majority + Smart Minority = PR Success
What do these concepts mean?
Stupid Majority = a majority of today that will steadily decline into a minority of tomorrow.
Smart Minority = a minority of today that will grow into a new majority of tomorrow.
So, what do you have to do exactly?
Identify your Stupid Majority. For example, in my niche, the public relations industry, there are plenty:
And so on.
There are plenty of Stupid Majorities (and corresponding Smart Minorities) everywhere — as long as you’re willing to scratch the surface. You must brainstorm and produce a list for your niche or industry to get started.
Once you start gaining traction, remember that not everyone will love you. There’s the paradox of prominence and the Norman axiom.
